Feet not Roots!

Get out there!

Hello all & good day!

This week marks yet another new chapter of my life as its orientation week in Uni! Class selections are to be done tomorrow while my actual classes start next Monday aaand I can’t wait ๐Ÿ˜€ (I am a tad bit fidgety & hoping that I’ll be able to get good class timings as well as lecturers) There’s much to look forward to and I know I’ve got a goOod 3 years ahead of me.

hmmm

To be honest, I’m not really an outgoing person by natureย ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Though I’ve gotten an earful of advice on how I should get myself active in university and I know it so myself, it’s definitely going to be a challenge for me.

shy

I’d say I’m more of an introvert… but I can be friendly! (A friendly introvert? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ) I’m not one to completely shy away, and I reach out to people (especially when in the position of responsiblity) but at the same time, I get intimidated when there’s a whole bunch of extroverts dominating the scene… I really do :S

challengeaccepted

Nonetheless, I’ve set out to get actively involved in the programmes and events my university offers so that I can serve the students as well as gain experience and develop my character ๐Ÿ™‚ A thought that came to me awhile ago: “If you don’t feel comfortable doing it, but you kinda know you should, then you should!”

This is because I realized that the things that we are hesitant to do – that are out of our comfort zones – are the very things that make us stretch and grow as individuals! It’s how we learn new things – about the world, about people, about ourselves! ๐Ÿ™‚ So get out there, yes – take that step! Don’t talk yourself out of it once you’ve set your mind on it. Don’t be scared to give yourself a little push sometimes because in the end you’ll most likely look back and think “hey, I needed that” ๐Ÿ™‚

Much love and thanks for reading! โค

Meaningful Conversations & Gracious Words

I recently had a meet up with a friend and former leader and we had a good catch up. In the midst of the conversation, he brought up a point that stuck on for the rest of my week – a question that I’ll be asking myself more often from now on: “are my conversations meaningful?”

I know as teenagers we like to go out with our friends and just have fun without having a care – don’t get me wrong that’s awesome (And of course I engage in my own fair share of stupidity ^^) – but really, how often do we engage in meaningful conversations? Conversations about things that really matter? Genuine conversations that are beneficial – to both parties? Thinking about it, meaningful conversations are how bonds are formed between two individuals, really… and how you find yourself investing in friendships that will go a long way ๐Ÿ™‚

So yeah! A note to self to be more intentional with my meet-ups – to learn how to love and care for those around me more; to invest more of my time and effort into people and lives rather than material things.

Ending my short post, here is a Bible verse that I personally love and am learning to live by ๐Ÿ™‚ In my daily conversations, may I learn to be more encouraging – to use my words to build up and not tear down. May my words be gracious.

Fullness of life

A friend sent this verse to me yesterday and it just reminded me once again of how fulfilled life is when I “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness”.ย

Seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness as in – prioritizing the things of God over the things of man.ย Seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness as in – not placing the things of this world higher than they ought to be; not holding on to them so tightly as though they will last.

Matt 6-33.jpg

With placing God and His will as utmost priority comes a change in us towards things – such as the way we choose to speak, the use of our finances, our time management, the weight of our decisions… basically our whole outlook in life. Everything starts to revolve around the one truth we know – the one truth we want the world to know: The Gospel. And when all of that happens, worry goes! (as Matthew 6 addresses) because our mind no longer focuses on the here and now, but on eternity. And as we get our priorities right, God provides for us His children.

This is a reminder for me – as I reflect back, it’s seems that when I’ve got that order right: kingdom of God > this world , that’s when I find that life is most meaningful and when I find the most fulfillment and true satisfaction in Christ.

I would like to encourage my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, whichever point you may be in life, to keep running this race holding on to this promise – that as you fix your eyes on Jesus and let Him be the center, “all these things shall be added unto you” – because our God is faithful and He never fails.
