Vector Mask

Hi guys! I recently came across this page http://abduzeedo.com/node/8413 and I thought that the steps sounded pretty easy so I decided to give it a go myself 🙂 However, considering the fact that it was posted in 2009,  I’m guessing I’m using a more updated version of Photoshop now compared to the one in the post. Hence, I wasn’t able to follow it exactly step by step…

Below is my finished picture 🙂 It’s nothing fancy but I thought that the crumpled paper effect kinda complemented the old wall from my original image. I tried out different brushes and trying to add in some colored brush strokes (like how the link suggested), but nothing seemed to look nice…Any ideas on how I could improve and enhance the look of this picture? 🙂
